November Care Symposium on Loneliness

On the morning of Monday, November 26, Dr. Drexel Rayford, Support Team Network Manager at UAB Pastoral Care, will lead a discussion on the topic of loneliness: it’s causes, how to talk about it, and how to cope with it personally and in a community.  For those who can stay a bit longer, the presentation will be followed by a workshop examining how we can do a better job of combating loneliness among members of our church.  Please mark your calendars today for Monday, November 26 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (9-10 presentation, 10:30-11:30 workshop, lunch provided).

Walking Each Other Home

It’s not easy to talk about dying, but even one conversation can make a vital difference. All of us could be faced with opportunities to have these conversations with our grandparents, our parents, our spouses and our loved ones. Listen as Elizabeth Bertolini, a hospice and palliative care nurse, shares her many years of experience caring for the aging, in the hospital and long term care settings. You can access Beth’s slides here.
